TRANSGENDER PRISONERS IN ROMANIAN CONTEXT

Articolul prezent reprezintă continuarea preocupărilor autorilor cercetării în ce privește provocările pe care deținuți transgender le ridică sistemului penitenciar românesc. În acest sens, pornind de la intervievarea a 20 de deținuți transgender, a doi psihologi și a unui asistent social, cercetarea urmărește să identifice caracteristicile psihosociale ale acestora, existența unei concordanțe între practicile utilizate în cadrul sistemului penitenciar din România și bunele practici elaborate la nivelul Națiunilor Unite în scopul asigurării unui management corespunzător a deținuților transgender. S-a reliefat că sistemul penitenciar românesc nu operează cu noțiunea de deținuți transgender, diferențierea deținuților și procedurile care îi vizează având la bază criteriul sexului biologic. Se impune specializarea personalului în ce privește specificul intervenției cu persoanele trangender și implementarea acestora în practica sistemului penitenciar românesc.
