Psychological support for the police and public safety employees performing operational missions
Keywords:
psychological support, missions, activities, police and public safetyAbstract
The present paper aims to review the current literature on the concepts and practices relevant to the psychological support for personnel who perform police and public safety missions and activities. In order to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the psychological support activities, it is necessary to integrate them into a comprehensive system, which covers all phases of the execution of a punctual operational mission and involves the participation of all interested parties, basing or informing them through the scientific evidence, as well as taking over and adaptation of internationally recognized best practices. Among parties who participate to the aforementioned system, the psychologist plays a key role.
