Relația dintre distresul identitar și utilizarea mediului online la tineri

Prezentul studiu are ca obiectiv explorarea relației dintre distresul identitar la tineri, utilizarea Internetului, stilul de atașament, claritatea conceptului de sine (CCS) și tranziția către stadiul de adult. Chestionarele, aplicate tinerilor între 18 și 30 de ani (N = 228), au cuprins criteriile stadiului de adult (Arnett, 2000), informații cu privire la utilizarea Internetului și instrumentele „Experiences in Close Relationships – Revised Questionnaire” (Fraley, Waller, & Brennan, 2000), „The Identity Distress Survey” (Berman et al., 2004), „Self-Concept Clarity Scale” (Campbell et al., 1996). Atașamentul insecurizant și un CCS scăzut au prezis pozitiv distresul identitar. Participanții cu niveluri ridicate de distres identitar au raportat mai multe ore petrecute online, care, la rândul lor, au prezis negativ CCS. Variabilitatea îndeplinirii criteriilor pentru stadiul de adult a fost explicată parțial de CCS și de timpul petrecut online, dar rezultatul a fost diferit pentru participanții sub 25 de ani și cei peste această vârstă. Prezenta lucrare evidențiază implicațiile utilizării Internetului asupra clarificării identității și asupra tranziției către stadiul de adult, accentuând nevoia de a acorda o atenție sporită mediului online, care s-a dovedit un predictor negativ pentru astfel de procese. Mai mult, se subliniază importanța luării în considerare și a aspectului emoțional al autoclarificării în explorarea relațiilor mai sus menționate.
