The first part of the paper A Psychosocial Model of Risk and Protective Factors for Alcohol Abuse in Adolescents focused on precursor models on which the conceptualization of risk and protective factors for adolescent alcohol abuse was based, as well as empirical evidence for the predictive role of socio-demographic characteristics, religiosity, resilience, perceived self-efficacy and personality traits. In this second part, the empirical evidence for other variables included in the working model we have developed is reviewed. These are attitude towards risky behaviors for physical and mental health, anxiety and predisposition to depression, social support, satisfaction with life, indiscipline at school and academic self-esteem. Practical implications are discussed in terms of the causes and long-term consequences of problematic drinking among adolescents, as well as prevention programs.
